BOCCIA PROGRAM

Our Boccia program provides a supportive and engaging environment where participants can build confidence, develop skills and connect with others in the community.

What Is Boccia?

Boccia is a precision ball sport originally developed for athletes living with physical disabilities. It is played indoors on a flat court where players throw, roll or use ramps to place their coloured balls as close as possible to a white target ball called the jack.

The sport focuses on strategy and accuracy rather than strength or speed. Boccia is suitable for wheelchair users, ambulant players and people of varying mobility levels. This makes it a truly inclusive activity for the community.

No experience is required. All equipment is provided and coaches explain the basics so new players can join with confidence.

Who Is It For?

We are inviting expressions of interest from people who would like to be part of our Boccia sessions. This program is well suited to:

People living with physical disabilities
NDIS participants who want to increase social participation and community engagement
Young people and adults of all abilities
Individuals with conditions such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, acquired brain injuries or stroke
Wheelchair users seeking social sport opportunities

If you are unsure whether Boccia is suitable for you, please contact our team and we will be happy to help.

Why Join From the Beginning?

Joining our Boccia program early gives you the chance to shape something truly community-led and inclusive.

Be Part of the Foundation Group

Help build the club from the ground up. We are creating a space where participants contribute ideas, support each other and grow together.

Build Confidence

Through skill development and practice, many participants find they gain confidence both in the sport and in daily life.

Develop New Skills

Boccia helps improve coordination, focus and strategy. Whether you are fine-tuning your aim or learning team tactics, there is always room to grow.

Make Community Connections

Our sessions are social and welcoming. Participants often form meaningful friendships, enjoy group activities and feel part of something that matters.

How Boccia Works

Boccia is played in short rounds where players take turns throwing or rolling balls towards the jack. The player or team with balls closest to the jack scores points.

The game rewards precision, strategic thinking and control. It is not reliant on strength or speed. This allows participants with different abilities to enjoy the sport equally.

Games can be adapted to suit your pace. Coaches and volunteers are on hand to explain, support and help you feel confident in each session.

What Happens at a Session?

When you join a Boccia session, you can expect the following structure:

Welcome and Introduction

New participants are greeted and introduced to the basics. Coaches explain how the game works and answer any questions.

Skill Warm-Up

Players take part in simple drills to practise throwing, rolling or using a ramp, depending on their preference.

Gameplay

Participants play rounds of boccia in friendly matches. Everyone is supported at their skill level.

Social Time

After games, players are encouraged to chat, exchange tips and connect with others. This time is a key part of our program’s community focus.

No matter your experience, the sessions are relaxed, encouraging and inclusive.
